Ultrasound Guided Brachial Plexus Nerve Block in a Dog: Part 3 of 3

This procedural video demonstrates an ultrasound guided brachial plexus nerve block in a dog with an interscalene approach. Developed in a 3 part series, the first video will review the prep and anatomical landmarks for the procedure. Part 2 will review the anatomical landmarks, the brachial plexus nerve with electro stimulation and on ultrasound. Part 3 will illustrate the ultrasound guided procedure. Fernando Garcia-Pereira DVM, MS, DACVAA, performing the procedure in this video, is currently an Assistant Professor of Anesthesia and Pain Management, Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. Dr. Garcia-Pereira completed his anesthesia internship at the University of Sao Paulo, 2002 following with a residency at the Washington State University in 2005. During which he received his Master of Veterinary Sciences at the Washington State University, 2005 with a rotating internship in 2006. Following which he became a Diplomate of American College of Veterinary Anesthesiologists. Fernando’s professional interests include small animal pain pathophysiology, ultrasound and electric-guided regional blocks, epidural and subarachnoid anesthesia and neurostimulation.
