All of Sonosite's Clinical Media videos have English-language audio tracks. To make these videos available to a global audience, we have enabled translatable YouTube subtitles (sometimes called captions) for each video. YouTube subtitles are specially formatted text files that are added to YouTube videos. A YouTube video may have subtitles in many different languages.
The example YouTube videos below have Japanese and Russian subtitles.
All of the videos in in our Clinical Media Library have subtitles. By default, non-English subtitles are automatically displayed when you watch the video. (For example, you will see the German subtitles when you are on our German site.)
This page describes how to manage the source (English-Language) subtitles.
Adding Subtitles
English-language subtitles are automatically added to all Clinical Media Library YouTube videos. The subtitles are created by a third-party company, and may take a few minutes to an hour to appear. You will receive an email when the subtitles have been added to your new page.
Non-English subtitles must be translated from the English-langauge source. See Translating YouTube Subtitles for more information.
Editing Subtitles
Each line of a YouTube subtitle has a time code attached to it. The time code helps YouTube synchronize the subtitle with the video.

When editing subtitles, you may change any text that is not enclosed in angle brackets. If you edit or remove any of the <p> tags, the subtitles will not be synchronized with the video.
When you click the Save button, your edited subtitles are uploaded to YouTube. You will also see a status message that confirms the upload, as well as a link that you can use to check the subtitle. (You must be a Sonosite YouTube admin to use this link.)

Removing Subtitles
To remove a non-English subtitle, remove all of the text from the Drupal Subtitles field and click "Save".
(English-language subtitles can only be removed by an administrator.)
Retriving Accidentally Erased Subtitles
If you accidentally erase a subtitle entry, you can retrieve it from a recent revision. From an Edit page, click the Revisions tab to see a list of backup copies of the node. Find the version that you need and click the Revert link.
