FUJIFILM SONOSITE LAUNCHES NEW POINT-OF-CARE ULTRASOUND SYSTEM WITH THE MOST ADVANCED IMAGE CLARITY SONOSITE HAS EVER OFFERED

July 20, 2020

Bothell, WA, July 21, 2020 - FUJIFILM Sonosite, Inc., specialists in developing cutting-edge, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) solutions, and part of the larger Fujifilm Healthcare portfolio, has announced the launch of the new Sonosite PX ultrasound system. Sonosite PX is the next generation in Sonosite POCUS, with the most advanced image quality ever seen in a Sonosite system, a suite of workflow efficiency features, and an adaptable form factor.

“Sonosite PX will help clinicians treat patients more effectively and efficiently,” said Rich Fabian, President and Chief Operating Officer of FUJIFILM Sonosite, Inc. “It was designed and inspired by clinicians on the front lines of medicine, focusing on how they use ultrasound at the bedside, no matter where that bedside is.”

With the most advanced visualization capabilities of any Sonosite ultrasound system, Sonosite PX image clarity is the result of a new proprietary imaging algorithm. Combined with a new family of linear, curved, and phased array transducers, and improved color performance, clinicians can see anatomy more clearly with Sonosite PX.

Diku Mandavia, MD, FACEP, FRCPC, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of FUJIFILM Sonosite, Inc. explained, “Clinicians are continually expanding their use of POCUS. With Sonosite PX, they can use one ultrasound system for different workflows because it adapts to fit their diverse needs.” To support a wide range of POCUS skillsets, Sonosite PX includes exam types optimized for specific workflows. The user interface is simplified to show most-used controls, calculations, and annotations. Dr. Mandavia continued, “The system has two types of cardiac exams, focused cardiac with the most-used calculations for patient monitoring, and a cardiac exam with a suite of additional calculations for clinicians who want advanced functionality. This allows the clinician to choose the cardiac exam type to fit their individual workflow needs.”

Information essential to completing an exam including patient information, reports, and worksheets, is intuitively placed in one location, saving clinicians time and effort when navigating the ultrasound system user interface. Sonosite PX also integrates seamlessly with the company’s Sonosite Synchronicity solution, a workflow manager for POCUS that supports seamless credentialing, quality assurance, and billing across departments and institutions.

When mounted on the specialized stand, the Sonosite PX system adapts from a horizontal to vertical work surface position for optimal clinician ergonomics. A small footprint and vertical height adjustment provides closer bedside access, especially in constrained spaces. As with all Sonosite POCUS systems, Sonosite PX is built to legendary durability, reliability, and ease of use standards. The ultrasound system and transducers are drop-tested to one meter and the work surface is sealed to the edge for simplified cleaning and disinfection.
