(Nasdaq: SONO), the world leader in hand-carried ultrasound, today reported record financial results for the quarter and year ended December 31, 2004. Worldwide revenue in the fourth quarter of 2004 grew 36% to $37.1 million compared with $27.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2003. For the full year of 2004, the Company's total revenue grew 37% to $115.8 million compared with $84.8 million in the prior year. Year-over-year, changes in foreign currency rates increased the revenue growth rate by three percentage points for the fourth quarter and for the year.

In the fourth quarter of 2004, Sonosite achieved pre-tax income of approximately $3.5 million. In the fourth quarter of 2004, the Company recorded a one-time, non-cash tax benefit resulting from the reversal of the valuation allowance for US deferred taxes. Including the total tax benefit of $19.5 million, or $1.21 per diluted share, Sonosite reported net income in the fourth quarter of $23.0 million, or $1.42 per diluted share, compared with net income of approximately $2.2 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2003.
