And here with us today we have Marni Amp and Jamie Kinin.
Jamie is our clinical education specialist
who has been a sonographer for 10 plus years.
Jamie specializes in ob, general breast
and vascular ultrasound
and she will be leading our demonstration today.
And Marni Hemp is our presenter.
Marni Hemp has started her career as a radiographer
before transitioning to sonography a move
that gave her the opportunity to see the world
and take her career to Australia where she lived
and worked for 10 years.
During her time there, she specialized in OB vascular
and MSK ultrasound.
Marni joined Fujifilm SonoSite over seven years ago
as a clinical specialist with the Canadian sales team
before transitioning to her role as product manager
for Sono site's high end product line.
Marni now lives in Seattle, Washington, working
with the marketing and product development teams
to discover innovative ways to solve customer problems
for the always changing landscape of point
of care ultrasound.
And with that, I will turn it over to Marni.
- Thanks Laura, and thanks to all of you
for joining us today to discuss Sonas I px some
of the new features we are introducing
and how they can assist you using ultrasound at the
bedside from the beginning.
We have worked side by side partnering with you,
our clinicians, to develop an advance use
of ultrasound at the point of care, spending thousands
of hours optimizing
and enhancing our systems Based on your feedback,
we've designed our systems to focus on what really matters
to you and your daily practice.
We used all of these insights to design
and develop Sona Site PX and the new features
and functionality we're going to discuss with you today
with a small low profile wheel base
and hybrid H design that adapts to your environment,
the SUNY PX can find a place at the side
of the bed in your crowded rooms and bes.
The ability to raise and lower the system even when the
front wheels are under the bed, ensures
that you can have access no matter where you're standing.
And the system is sealed from edge to edge
and has a new cleaning mode to allow for easy disinfection
between patients along
with its adaptable form factor.
Sona IPX delivers the connectivity you need wherever you are
in the hospital or clinic.
There is a spot for everything gel, both bottles
and packets as well as wipes
and has a storage bin that includes a lockable drawer.
The triple transducer connector keeps the most use
transducers ready for use,
and there are four integrated transducer holders
that are designed to be durable and not fall off.
And the system is designed with a cable management system so
that you never run over cables
and your transducers are always available for you
to use so on.
As IPX incorporates the most advanced image clarity we
have ever offered.
It delivers faster frame rates, improved tissue resolution
and color performance,
and is supported with a redesigned family
of transducers on a site.
We understand image clarity isn't a specification.
It's an enabling transformation designed to provide you
with more confidence and easily interpret images,
including the ability to see important details which
supports faster diagnosis and time to treatment.
On the left, you see an internal jugular vein generated
using cyte PX
and the new L 19 five transducer with the venous exam type.
In the middle you see an image
of an intra scale nerve using the L 15 four transducer
with the nerve exam type
and on the right there is a right upper quadrant imaged
with our C five one transducer In the abdominal exam type.
The color performance on sun side PX has been enhanced
to detect flow types including low flow veins
and high velocity regurgitate jets,
all while providing better definition
for these different types of flow.
These enhancements benefit both the acute care physicians
examining for cardiac performance
and with the rheumatologist who's looking for signs
of inflammation in small joints.
The color enhancements include improved color frame rates
and persistence color maps that make flows pop for cardiac
and vascular exams.
There's less motion artifact and color on both the venous
and arterial exam types.
Improved flash artifact, especially in
and around the right ventricle.
Also included is color compare that allows
for interpretation in both color and 2D simultaneously.
SOLIGHT designs manufactures
and tests transducers in-house
with real world situations in mind.
Our transducers are normally durable.
They're also made to offer superior imaging technology in
the most demanding environments.
Solight PX includes our redesigned family of linear, curved,
and phased array transducers.
These transducers contain our most innovative technology
and assist in providing our advanced image clarity while
providing versatility.
This family now includes two brand new transducers,
the C ten three high frequency carboline
and the T eight three transesophageal
transducer as proceduralists.
You want to be confident in locating your anatomical target
and visualizing the surrounding structures to ensure
that you're able to place your needles
for catheters in the correct location.
The new C ten three carboline transducer provides an
optimized near field
and wide field of view for shallow and deep blocks.
It includes both steep needle profiling
and a center line to assist with needle visualization
during procedures.
The new C ten three will image to a depth
of 18 centimeters for abdominal imaging.
And you can see on the left is an image
of the right upper quadrant highlighting the
liver and kidney border.
It also provides great near field imaging
and on the right is an image of the vessel
and nerve in the inductor canal.
With the introduction of our new T eight three ultrasound
transducer, we are here to partner with you
and help overcome barriers that will pave the way
for the increased use of this ultrasound at the bedside.
To improve patient care, we know that
transesophageal ultrasound can assist
with providing consistent and repeatable cardiac imaging.
Regardless of patient condition or body habitus, help guide
and assure adequate progressions during CPR
and assist with quick and accurate diagnosis
at the point of care.
This new T eight three transesophageal transducer has never
been introduced on any other cyte product.
It is lightweight and flexible for easy manipulation
incorporates our advanced image clarity
for increased confidence during these difficult exams.
As a small tip for ease of insertion, which is important,
as many times you're sharing the esophagus in a critically
ill patient and has low power consumption
to maintain temperature while monitoring over time.
It also includes an industry first resuscitation exam type.
The focus is on supporting you when you need it most
with an onscreen protocol to assist
with getting the right views.
During this critical exam
with Sona Site bx, you'll be able
to effectively assess cardiac function
with optimal frame rates, improve performance
and an enhanced color map.
Sona Site PX provides cardiac functionality for all level
of users with exam types for a focused
or more expansive cardiac assessment.
The optimized cardiac calculation workflow includes an
assisted cardiac output that remove steps
and complexity from this important calculation.

While using the heart is the best option
for a non-invasive solution to managing flu resuscitation,
there can be many reasons why achieving a cardiac
window can be difficult.
These can include a patient's body habitus or position.
They can be post cardiac surgery
where the lungs can obscure sonographic windows
by providing a surrogate.
In these scenarios where the windows
of the heart cannot be obtained, clinicians will be able
to gather more information about their patients in a quick
and non-invasive manner.
Carotid blood flow is considered a marker of cardiac output
and is best used for trending or monitoring.
It can provide the ability for a clinician
to use the carotid as a surrogate.
This new release of Cyte PX includes a streamlined lucid
solution for using the common carotid artery
for this calculation system walks you
through measuring the diameter
and placing goal posts across a single heart rate
and then works out the VTI and carotid blood flow for you.
There is also a second set of measurement tools
so you can measure these over time.
Filling a gap in our past products
and based on customer requests we have added
anatomical M mode.
It can be challenging evaluating the heart at the bedside
of a critically ill patient
and the flexibility of anatomical M mode enables you
to modify the angle of the M line off access
during an M mode evaluation.
This can assist in improving measurements when a patient is
not able to be rotated to rotated to their left side
or during an IVC collapse measurement.
When it is difficult to image the vessel perpendicular
to the transducer, electrical tracing allows users
to perform more accurate cardiac measurements.
Identifying the MO moment in the cardiac cycle a measurement
occurs allows for greater reproducibility
and comparative measurements.
The new UNA site ECG module has a small footprint
with dedicated integration onto the system.
It returns a signal upon connection in about two
to three seconds and provides a continuous wave form even if
one of the lower leads pops off while providing the user
feedback that one of the leads has become disconnected,
it's compatible with both the P five one
and T eight three cardiac transducers.
We know that you're busy. The Sun Site PX focuses on

Our new update for Sona Site PX also provides access
to the QA onboard QV application provides access to these,
to those worksheets.
As Sona site education is one of our core pillars
and we continue to be dedicated in providing access
to point-of-care ultrasound education.
The onboard education on Sona site PX has over 150 tutorials
that include scan along 3D videos that provide frame
and frame viewing, allowing for image optimization
to take place while learning new this year are tutorials
for quadratus lumborum, erectus spin
and PEX one and two blocks.
You can train on your system
with the included onboard education
of 12 dedicated training videos to ensure user confidence.
Nine specifically on using this on a site px
also included on the system are getting started guides,
frequently asked questions and full instructions for use.
You have everything at your fingertips to set you up
for success with your new system

It is now my pleasure to introduce Jamie Buon
to demonstrate the Sono site px.
- Great. Thank you Marni and I will turn it over to you.
Jamie,
- Thank you for the introduction.
Marni. Like she said, my name is Jamie.
I am here with Asano site PX for some of those
that have not seen the system
and are seeing this for the first time,
this is our hybrid system that offers the adaptability
and the versatility of scanning in that desktop application
as well as that more vertical procedure application position
for those getting really close to the bedside
in those crowded rooms.
I'm gonna jump down into our user interface
to improve workflow efficiency and ease of use.
We have an intuitive touch panel up on top here
and tactile physical keys with quick access
to the most used controls.
You'll notice those unique shapes
of our raised physical keys.
This is designed for clinicians to improve workflow
by feel from our imaging modes.
Over on the right over
to our most used controls on the left are
gain and our depths.
The touch panel above gives access
to quickly navigate workflow
and controls such as patient information,
transducer selection and exam selection,
and other user control parameters.
This is also where you can access center line for your out
of plain vascular access
and turn on our auto steep needle profiling for
our steep needle profiling feature For our in plain
procedures, the learn button, as Marni had mentioned, is
where we house those onboard learning tutorials in
multiple specialties.
And you can see here within the COVID-19,
we have multiple different videos here in relationship
to the CVID 19.
We're gonna go and exit out of there.
Moving into some of our new features is the
cleaning mode button.
By touching the cleaning mode button, it'll pause the system
to allow you to clean the system without powering it down.
To exit the cleaning mode, you'll press
and hold that 2D button
and you'll go back to your scan screen.
We can now customize exam presets.
The easiest way is to go right into your transducer
selection, simply tap on the transducer you'd like
and kind of that base exam preset that you're going
to be starting for with.
Go ahead and hit that scan button
and once you're in that exam preset,
you can adjust your parameters as as needed.
You can control your depth, so we'll just bring depth up.
You can change different optimization parameters on the
touch panel as well as you can press and hold
and move some of these widgets where you'd like them.
Once you have all your parameters set, go ahead
and hit the three lines in the right corner
and go down to your save custom exam.
From here, you can go in
and click in to name your custom exam type.
Once you're done with that, you'll notice on the right hand
side here you can actually adjust the order on
where your exam types are going to be listed under
that transducer list.
Once you're finished, go ahead and hit that save custom exam
and you'll notice now that we are in that custom exam type.
But if we click back into there,
you'll see your custom exam type listed as well.
In regards to our cardiac scanning,
we now offer the anatomical M mode
with the P five transducer in a cardiac scan selection
or scan exam type.
I'm gonna go ahead and switch over
and we're gonna just show you the anatomical M mode
and demonstrate that here how to adjust.
So to activate the anatomical M mode,
you're gonna go ahead and click M.
As you notice in your normal anatomical M mode,
that M line is going to be along the axis
of the ultrasound beam.
To adjust into your anatomical M mode,
you'll simply click on the touch panel anatomical M mode
to turn that on and you'll use your track pad here to adjust
the position as well as the angle you're going in to adjust
to get that accurate tracing
and measurements of your scanning.
And you click M mode again to activate that tracing
to get out, simply hit that 2D button.
When you are in M mode, you can turn that on
and off with the simple click of the button there.
And that's for if you are scanning with a patient
that is unable to roll, the heart is gonna be kind
of off access or that IVC is off access as well.
In addition that we've added
with the cardiac scanning is going
to be our carotid blood flow calculation.
You may use that carotid as Marni mentioned as a surrogate
for the cardiac output when you're unable
to obtain your cardiac window.
With that, we'll go ahead and change the transducer here.
We'll select that linear L 12 three transducer.
This is available on our L 12 and L 15 transducers.
And you'll go into the carotid exam type.
And I'm just gonna run through the workflow of obtaining
that carotid blood flow calculation.
So I'm gonna come up on the carotid artery here.
I'm gonna bring my depth up just so we can center
that artery.
In the middle of the screen,
we're gonna use our pulse doppler signal.
So we'll go ahead and click that D in our imaging mode.
From here. We'll use our track pad to adjust
that doppler signal within the carotid artery approximately
two centimeters from the bulb.
And you do want that doppler doppler signal to be parallel
with the vessel wall to activate.
You'll hit that D button again to activate your tracing.
As that tracing is going
and you get what you need,
you'll simply freeze your image here
and you'll go into your calculations on the couch package.
Here you are going to, you're going
to select the appropriate side that you are scanning
and we'll start with the common carotid artery diameter.
So using your finger, you'll tap
and your track pad will activate your cursors.
From here, you're going to use your track pad in your finger
to adjust and select
and measure the vessel wall, inner wall to inner wall.
Over the sample gate, you'll save your image
and then you'll come up and select the VTI
and these are goalposts and you will actually
move your track pad
and select peak systolic to end diastolic
of one full heart cycle and save that image.
You'll notice in the upper left hand corner
of my ultrasound display,
you'll get your common crowded artery, blood flow
measurements, heart rate and all that.
So I'm gonna allow Joshua here to kind of change positions
for me so we can show you some
of the image clarity on the new C ten three transducer.
This is our high frequency curva linear transducer
that allows a more detailed and large image for clinicians.
I'm going to go ahead and select the C 10 transducer in the
nerve exam type.
So with this I'm, today I'm going
to show you the erector spin, a view
for an erector spin a block, as well
as a glenohumeral JO joint in the posterior shoulder.
So I'm gonna go ahead and select
that nerve preset and hit scan.
You should be able to see here,
here get some gel.
So I'm gonna start in a para sagittal axis
with the orientation marker pointed to the patient's head.
And I'm gonna scan right along that spinous pro
spinous process here and I'm gonna start moving laterally.
As I move laterally,
you'll see the transverse process come in as well
as if I keep going, you'll run into your rib
here and the lung below.
So you'll come back medially
and you'll pull in your transverse process.
And with this view for the erector spin a block,
that needle will come in on either side, kind of right along
to this transverse on either side,
depending on which level you are administering the block.
From there, we're gonna go into the posterior shoulder.
So I'm gonna go into our transducer selection
and we're gonna select an MSK preset for this and hit scan.
And I'm gonna have you just flip your hand up for me there.
Perfect. And I'm gonna come in right
underneath his acromion in here.
I'm gonna just bring the depth down one.
And here you can see those cortical landmarks.
You can see that humeral head,
that hyper coic humeral head here.
Down below we have our posterior glenoid tuber hole.
In between here we can see
that hyper coic triangular labrum.
And then as we move up towards that humeral head,
this little ano coic area
between is gonna be the articular cartilage as well as
that joint capsule, that thin hyper coic line.
And we're gonna watch that
as he externally rotates his hands slowly,
you can actually watch that capsule kind
of fold in medially.
- Perfect. - We're gonna have you slowly rotate back
and you can see kind
of dynamically visualized while scanning live
that joint in
that capsule sliding back up over the humeral head there.
And that concludes kind of the scanning portion
of the live demo.
