The ACGME Program Requirements for Graduate Medical Education in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine (Internal Medicine) has defined a new standard for patient safety and quality of care that will take effect July 1, 2012. Are you prepared?

Under these new requirements, the use of point-of-care ultrasound for guided procedures and imaging evaluations will need to include:
- Techniques to perform thoracentesis
- The placing of intravascular and intracavitary tubes and catheters
- The use of transcutaneous pacemakers
- Imaging techniques (including the use of ultrasound) commonly employed in the evaluation of patients with pulmonary disease or critical illness.
