“I’ve Had to Eat a Lot of Crow”

A former naysayer now sings the praises of MSK ultrasound.

It’s always encouraging to hear from users who appreciate our products. But it’s especially sweet when a former skeptic declares himself a new believer. Idaho sports physician Scot Scheffel, MD, shares such a transformation via an email to Dr. Kim Harmon, physician for the University of Washington football team.

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for introducing me to MSK U/S. The first chance I had to actually get my hands on a machine (because the [SonoSite] booths at the meetings were always stacked 10 people deep) was at the "MSK U/S for Team Physicians” course (with Sonosite) in Seattle a couple summers ago. After that, I bought a machine, and now use it a lot in my practice. I admit that I was a naysayer for the longest time – "I don't need an ultrasound to get into X joint..." or "they're just doing all that U/S stuff to make more money without changing treatment outcomes, etc..."

Well, I've had to eat a lot of crow over the past year and a half! I really feel that U/S has made me able to provide better care to some of my patients. So "thank you" for taking the time to teach us people out in the sticks – it really does make a difference!

By the way, if you recognize Dr. Kim Harmon’s name, it may be because she is “The Rehabilitator” hero in SonoSite’s Heroes Campaign.
