Internal medicine physicians are discovering the value of ultrasound visualization for assessing, diagnosing, and determining treatment options for their patients at the point of care.
There is a growing demand, on the part of patients, that assessment and treatment of diseases be addressed in the physician’s office.
SonoSite® has worked closely with internal medicine physicians to develop imaging equipment that meets the rapidly expanding clinical requirements required in their practices. Hand-carried ultrasound can be used in these practices to assess structures, such as the abdomen, aorta, kidneys, gallbladder, thyroid and soft tissue. It can also be used to manage and treat cardiovascular disease processes with screening tools such as SonoCalc® IMT software and embedded CIMT calculations. These tools generate summarized reports which are both used to compare with published study results and monitor patient progress over time for cardiovascular disease management.
“I couldn’t imagine doing my job without ultrasound.”
—Dr. John Postley, New York Physicians Group, New York City, New York
“Since we started offering CIMT to our practice’s patients, we’ve seen a change. We have had an increase in referrals from other physicians in the community who want this service for their patients, who want to engage with their patients at that level of communication in cardiovascular disease and risk.”
—Dr. Bryan Pogue, Heart Prevention Clinic of Idaho
