Ultrasound for Critical Care & Emergency Applications

This live, hands-on seminar is designed for physicians or other medical professionals involved with ultrasound evaluation of emergent and critically ill patients. Our highly experienced faculty will cover multiple topics and procedures including: abdominal, cardiac, venous imaging, case studies, pediatric, ultrasound-guided procedures and more. This course is developed in accordance with ACEP and WINFOCUS Ultrasound Practice Guidelines and includes extensive 3:1 hands-on training featuring live models and inanimate phantoms for a realistic training experience.  This course is intended for critical care, emergency medicine, trauma, hospitalists, internal medicine, family practice physicians, PA’s, nurse practitioners and advanced level sonographers.

Focused Pleural and Vascular Ultrasound

The course is designed to familiarize the frontline intensivist with thoracic and vascular ultrasonography for diagnosis and management of the critically ill patient. The course is a part of the ACCP certificate of completion program. It is also designed to meet the needs of program directors in reference to the recent American Board of Internal Medicine guidelines requiring that fellowship training include ultrasound guidance of pleural and vascular access. The course focuses on training using human models and vascular ultrasound task trainers, as well as comprehensive training in image interpretation.

Ultrasonography: Fundamentals in Critical Care

Advanced Health Education Center’s Point of Care: Advanced ultrasound course is a two day advanced training course that provides participants the fundamental knowledge and skill required to perform advanced ultrasound evaluation of the trauma patient.  The course is conducted with focused didactic lectures followed by supervised hands on scan lab with live models. The course topics for the two day basic course include the application of bedside ultrasound from advanced cardiac evaluation and pulmonary applications, to ultrasound guided treatments and interventions.  Emphasis is placed on acquisitions of the knowledge and scanning skills needed for vascular access techniques, thoracic ultrasound evaluation (interstitial pathology, pneumothorax, pleural effusions and thorocentesis), evaluation of DVT’s and integration of point-of-care echocardiography into symptom based evaluation of the patient.

The course can be customized to the client’s needs based on the skill level of the participants. This course utilizes hands-on training with simulation phantoms, as well as live models. Registration fees will be determined by anticipated participants and location of training

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Advanced Health Education Center’s Musculoskeletal Ultrasound on-site training is a two day basic training course which can be designed to meet the specific needs of the participant.  The course provides participates the fundamental knowledge and skill required to perform musculoskeletal ultrasound procedures.  The course is conducted with focused didactic lectures followed by supervised hands on scan lab with live models. The course topics include upper extremity including the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand, lower extremity including the knee, ankle and foot, soft tissue and muscle including interventions. The course can be customized to the client’s needs based on the skill level of the participants.

Advanced Health Education Center’s Specialty Procedures in Ultrasound for Physicians on-site training is a one day advanced applications ultrasound training course.  The course provides participates a brief overview of the fundamental knowledge and skill required to perform ultrasound procedures.  The course is conducted with focused didactic lectures followed by supervised hands on scan lab with live models. The course topics include venous orientation and pathology to demonstrate DVT, cardiac pathology including ventricular enlargement, tamponade, pericardial effusion, and basic cardiac function.  Ultrasound guided procedures including thoracentesis, pericardiocentesis and central line placement.

The course can be customized to the client’s needs based on the skill level of the participants. This course utilizes hands-on training with simulation phantoms, as well as live models. Registration fees will be determined by anticipated participants and location of training.

Physician’s on-site training is a three day training course for those with a basic knowledge of ultrasound procedures and some experience in scanning.  The course is conducted with focused didactic lectures followed by supervised hands on scan lab with live models. The course topics include E-FAST procedure, solid organ injuries, visualizing pneumothorax, ocular ultrasound, soft tissue evaluation, musculoskeletal, scanning the aorta and heart, venous studies, line placement with practice on a phantom, and case studies

The course can be customized to the client’s needs based on the skill level of the participants. This course utilizes hands-on training with simulation phantoms, as well as live models. Registration fees will be determined by anticipated participants and location of training. CME credit is available for onsite training courses.
