University of New Mexico School of Medicine
Date: September 8 – 9, 2012
Location: Albuquerque, NM
This workshop caters to anesthesiologists with limited experience or success with UGRA. Its objectives are:
-
Provide a simple, effective framework for starting up a regional anesthesia service in the participant’s practice including information about billing.
-
Increase participant's confidence in using ultrasound by learning to recognize targets and dangers and learning to manipulate the needle safely en route to the targets.
-
Increase participant's confidence in performing high yield upper and lower extremity blocks in a safe and effective manner.
-
Help the participant understand the risks and benefits of ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia based on current scientific evidence.
Training will be provided by skilled faculty members who perform their own blocks in practice and do not routinely put their patients to sleep for surgery. The workshop offers maximum audience participation with realistic hands-on practice and a low participants-to-faculty ratio.
